'Sir Bill'
The Complete Bill Nicholson Story
by Steve Perryman and Norman Giller

Bill Nicholson has had a greater impact and influence on Tottenham Hotspur than any other man. Bill, also referred to as "Mr. Tottenham," was a member of the team that won the 1951 Championship and then managed the team from 1958 to 1974. Spurs won the UEFA Cup in 1972, the European Cup Winners Cup in 1963 (becoming the first English team to win a European trophy), the League Cup in 1971 and 1972, the FA Cup twice in 1962 and 1967, and the League and Cup Double in 1961 all under his direction. The book tells the story of Bill's childhood and upbringing in Yorkshire, his early years as a player in the renowned Push-and-Run championship team in the early 1950s, his move to London as a young man to play for Spurs after the War, his promotion to Tottenham manager in the late 1950s, and his subsequent successful career. Steve and Norman use conversations Bill to tell more about his qualities as a bright man and boss. The most successful manager in Tottenham's history, he was never knighted by the establishment despite his public campaigning, but Spurs supporters believe he ought to be 'Sir' Bill.
