A Comprehensive Guide to Post-War Sports. Published in 1949 by Clerke & Cockeran Publishers of London, this groundbreaking first edition marked the beginning of an influential series that would shape young sports enthusiasts' understanding of athletics in post-war Britain.
The book offers comprehensive coverage of both mainstream and niche sports:

◾Cricket
◾Cycling
◾Fencing
◾Fishing
◾Gliding
◾Major Sports

◾Soccer
◾Specialized Activities
◾Table Tennis
◾Wrestling
The book notably features detailed coverage of two sports that were gaining significant popularity in post-war Britain:
Speedway racing experienced a significant post-war boom through the early 1950s, with major events drawing large crowds.
Ice Hockey: Which was establishing itself in the British sporting landscape?
The publication stands out for several key features:
All articles are written by specialists in their respective fields. Focused on actionable advice for young athletes With over 200 photographs and illustrations
This publication emerged at a crucial time in British sporting history, when various sports were playing a vital role in post-war reconstruction. It served not just as a sports guide but as a window into the rebuilding of British sporting culture after World War II. Young sports enthusiasts of all types participating in both traditional and emerging sports, will find the book appealing. This comprehensive approach made it an ideal gift for any sports-minded young person, providing both practical guidance and entertainment value through its varied content and extensive visual material.
The annual is in excellent condition; the red boards are bright and spotless, the binding is very tight, and all pages are also clean and bright. We are unable to remove the tape marks left at the top and bottom of the dust jacket, which show minor shelf wear. These marks are also visible on the back. The competition form on page 150 has been completed by the previous owner, a young boy. We thoroughly cleaned and overhauled the dust jacket before covering it with our Archival Dust Jacket System. The dust jacket has certainly done its job for the last 73 years.
