Bassett's Blades [Hardcover]
Inside the Sheffield United era that inspired a generation
by Danny Hall and Nathan Hemmingham

When Dave 'Harry' Bassett took over as the new manager in 1988, Sheffield United was stagnant. Crowds were low, money was lower and any optimism amongst the fanbase had long since been spent up. The Blades faced relegation during Bassett's first season in charge, before he truly established his influence on the club. What followed was a rollercoaster ride of back-to-back promotions, against-the-odds survivals and a remarkable era of success that means its main protagonists are still fondly remembered at Bramall Lane to this day. For the first time, using exclusive interviews and extensive research, Bassett's Blades charts the inside story of that era through the games, characters and stories that define a generation.

He's a three-time winner of the 'sports journalist of the year award' and covered Sheffield United's promotion seasons in 2016/17, 2018/19, and 2022/23. His other books include 'He's One of Our Own,' 'We're Not Going to Wembley,' and 'Legends at the Lane,' while he also co-wrote Paddy Kenny's autobiography, 'The Gloves Are Off.'
