Bobby Johnston: The Passing of an Age Hardback Book

通常価格 £10.00 £0.00

Bobby Johnstone made history fifty years ago when he became the first player to score in back-to-back FA Cup finals at Wembley. His front line comprised the Hibs 'Famous Five' as well. However, Bobby Johnstone did not get his wealth. This is his tale. His early years were difficult since he was born at Selkirk, on the Scottish borders, towards the end of the 1920s. Bobby started his football career with Selkirk F.C. after the war, but the powerful Hibernian soon took note. After assembling the all-international front line of Smith, Johnstone, Reilly, Turnbull, and Ormond—known as the "Famous Five"—Hibs—whose golden period had begun, they had not won a major trophy in much for forty years. He later played for Oldham Athletic and Manchester City. These were the days of heavy leather football, packed stadiums, and the genuine unpredictable nature of the result. He left behind a rich sports legacy. The book chronicles Bobby's football career, illustrating it with interviews with teammates from every phase of his career, starting with his time as a Selkirk player and ending with his retirement.
