Pegasus famous Oxford and Cambridge combined soccer side Hardback Book

通常価格 £8.00 £0.00

This is an autobiographical account of the famous Oxford and Cambridge universities combined soccer side of the fifties, which gained such a brief but tremendous following.
Geoffrey Green writes, ‘Though the central theme is Pegasus, this is more than the mere
history of an original football venture, the offspring of Centaur and Falcon, which soared like a brilliant comet and died within a crowded decode and a half, victim of its own early success. Across these pages is woven a wider human pattern: esoteric days at Oxford, the trials of parenthood, of cricket in high summer, the growing pains of a schoolmaster at Lancing.‘ The climax of the book and of the history of the Pegasus football team must be their winning of the F.A. Amateur Cup in 1951 and 1953 before crowds of 100,000 at Wembley.
The Amateur status in football no longer exists; Pegasus was the last of the great amateur
football teams, and this fascinating, often humorous book, is a fitting tribute to them.

Published by Oxford Illustrated Press Ltd., Headington, Oxford, 1975, 245 pages with illustrations. Hardcover with good dustjacket.

£5.40 + Royal Mail Postage: £2.60 Total to Pay £8.00
