Are you? a family member or an ancestor in one of the 100's of photos?

Torquay United is a small but proud club, with a long and fascinating history. Formed on May Day, 1899, by former students of Torquay Public College, the club turned professional in 1921, entering the Southern League a year later and the Football League in 1927. Unfortunately, apart from three brief promotion forays, they have been stuck in the League basement ever since. However, there have been glorious moments to savour along the way and many of them are captured in this pictorial history, which contains over 200 images. The selection includes many triumphs and disappointments, culminating with United’s recent chequered form, which saw them alternating between glorious Wembley appearances and the threat of the Big Drop. Pictures and profiles of the club’s stalwarts and great players are also featured, including Sid Cann, Ralph Birkett, Don Welsh, Don Mills, Sammy Collins, Robin Stubbs, Lee Sharpe, Matt Elliot and Rodney Jack. All followers of The Gulls will love this book Long-term fans will have many memories rekindled and younger supporters will be given a glimpse of the way things used to be through this splendid pictorial celebration of a century of football history.
